Policy for the publication of special issues

This policy establishes the criteria and guidelines for the publication of special issues in the Journal of Food Science and Gastronomy, ensuring the quality, integrity, and relevance of the content.

Editorial responsibility

a) Responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief

The editor-in-chief will be responsible for the entire content of the journal, including all special issues. All special issues must strictly align with the journal's scope and objectives.

b) Oversight by the Editorial Board

The editor-in-chief, with the support of dedicated members of the editorial board, will oversee the activities of guest editors to ensure compliance with the journal's standards.

Criteria for special issues

a) Editorial and peer review

Articles included in special issues will be subject to the same rigorous editorial oversight and external peer review process as regular articles. These articles will be clearly labeled as part of a special issue to distinguish them from regular content.

b) Verification of credentials

The credentials of guest editors will be pre-verified and approved by the editor-in-chief or the editorial board.

c) Proportion of Guest Editors' articles

Articles submitted by guest editors for a special issue will undergo an independent review process. These articles will not exceed 25% of the total content of the special issue.

Process oversight

The editorial board will establish clear guidelines to ensure that special issues address topics of relevant interest and maintain the scientific credibility of the journal.

Transparency

An editorial statement will be provided at the beginning of each special issue, detailing the objectives, thematic focus, names of guest editors, and the description of the article selection process.

This policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure alignment with best practices in scientific publishing.
